Amigurumi: meaning and how to work it
The Japanese art of crocheting dolls and small figures. The parts are worked in tight single crochet spirals, stuffed with fibre fill and sewn together.
How to work it
- Start each part with a magic ring of 6 single crochet.
- Widen with evenly spaced increases each round (6, 12, 18, 24 stitches and so on).
- Work a few rounds without increases to build height.
- Narrow with invisible decreases while stuffing a little at a time.
- Sew the parts together with a tapestry needle and matching yarn.
